  Botswana develops cyber security framework   Bitdefender takes a leap by coming with the UN-Led ITU-IMPACT to help the world to fight against the evolving cyber threats.
 

Botswana has started working with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) to assist the country develop its national cyber-security framework, Transport and Communications minister, Mr Nonofo Molefhi, has said.

Giving a keynote address at the start of a five-day cyber-security training workshop on Monday, Mr Molefhi said the ITU had already carried out a preliminary assessment of cyber-security issues in Botswana. He also told participants that the findings would be shared with them during the ongoing workshop.

 

Joining the United Nations-led team, Bitdefender is going to fight against cybercrime globally. Nowadays, online world is very unsafe. Therefore, it is very necessary to step ahead for making this online era safe and secure.

Now, Bitdefender is associated with International Multilateral Partnership Against Cyber Threats (IMPACT). It is the security arm of the United Nations, which is a specialized agency known as International Telecommunication Union (ITU). With the rising cyber threats, it is very crucial to come out with some new ideas to fight with these threats. Thus, IMPACT is bringing together the government, academia as well as industry experts so that the abilities to deal with the rising cybercrime of global community increases.

Muscat: Oman's digital economy received a boost yesterday with the launch of the Regional Cyber Security Centre (RCSC) for the Arab region.

The first International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Regional Centre will be instrumental in providing assistance to Arab countries, helping them to establish national cyber-security centres and assisting them with cyber services at a regional and international level.

By Kabeer Yousuf — MUSACT — The Sultanate of Oman, having positioned as the key cyber security hub within the Arab region, will be hosting a high-level assessment and brainstorming session on the cyber safety issues that is facing the nation’s virtual borders. Endorsed by ITU-IMPACT and co-organised by Oman National CERT, ITA Oman and French business information group naseba, the invitation-only summit is the only platform in the region connecting decision makers from critical infrastructure with CERTS and government organisations. To be held on March 4 and 5, a number of CIO’s (Chief Information Officers) in the Middle East and North Africa region will share their knowledge and expertise in the said sector for the good of the entire region underlining ‘united we stand’. The two days conference will foster knowledge-sharing and collaboration, ensuring regional organisations leave with enhanced relationships with cyber experts, a definitive long term plan and a more effective cyber defence strategy.
